SENIOR CITIZEN is an initiative of HOSPICARE dedicated to provide home nursing services and other health services for aged persons living in Madurai District. It is our policy to do the greatest possible good for the greatest possible number of people, with no thought of who deserves help, but only of who needs help.
We encourage the elderly to live as independent members of the community in their own homes for as long as possible – and provide a number of support services to the elderly and their families in order to achieve this goal.
As life-expectancy in India continues to increase and the elderly population expands there is a growing need for home nursing care services. Patient safety at home is as important as patient safety in hospitals. Unsafe conditions in the home can lead to unnecessary or avoidable hospitalizations. Members of a patient‘s family are often burdened with providing medical care they are not trained to administer. They must also balance their responsibilities at work and at home while caring for their loved one.
Furthermore the children of the patient may be employed abroad and are not able to be with their aged parents. Our nurses are trained to provide a wide variety of services to help care for the aged and sick. The elderly face a number of ailments as they advance in years including the loss of mobility and strength, increasing dependence on medication or various medical treatments, and an increased chance of psychological and neurological problems, such as declining self-confidence, severe depression, and dementia. Home care decreases costs, improves health outcomes, and reduces hospital stays. Our team will develop an age specific plan of care based on patient needs.
Registered Nurses: They are trained and certified to provide all nursing care including monitoring vitals, administration of medication in any mode, wound dressing, injections etc along with taking care of personal hygiene of the patient.
Associate Nurse: They are trained in nursing but completely fresher or did six to one year course, these staff can monitor vitals, can administer oral medications, catheter care, passive physiotherapy and personal hygiene of the patients.
Medical Care Takers: Are trained to take care of patient's personal hygiene, assisting in feeding, changing dress and some passive exercises.
